What's the story behind WERK ROASTERS and how did it all start?
In 2018, four like-minded friends brought together their professional skills and expertise to start a company built around specialty coffee.
Can you share more about your approach to sourcing and roasting coffee?
We use fully traceable, seasonally fresh, high-quality green coffee, choosing beans for their clarity, exceptional sweetness and texture. We also introduce coffees from diverse origins, creating value through the connection between producers and consumers.
What motivated WERK to explore the capsule coffee format?
We developed our capsules to make quality specialty coffee more accessible and effortless to enjoy. In Korea, demand for convenient coffee is growing steadily as more people look for easier ways to drink great coffee, and we created our capsules specifically to meet that demand.
We all have our morning routines, and coffee is often a crucial part of them. What is your morning ritual like?
The first thing I do after arriving at work is have a café latte with a touch of syrup. I love lattes made with vibrant, characterful single-origin espresso. On days when I'm at home, I start with a latte made from capsules or cold brew concentrate.
What are you most excited about right now, and for the future of WERK ROASTERS?
As a roastery-based business, we hope to grow the specialty coffee market and create new value through collaborations across diverse fields. Whether that means expanding our roastery, opening new spaces or exploring entirely different areas, we believe the lives of our team and everyone who drinks our coffee will keep moving in a positive direction.
